DANCE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH

There will be dance Friday, February 12th, for 5th and 6th graders only. The dance is from 3:00-5:00 pm and the cost is $5.00.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY FUNDRAISER

NJHS members will once again be selling carnation flowers for Valentine's Day. Sales will be during all lunches near the cafeteria starting Monday, February 1st and going until Friday, February 5th. Carnations are $1.50 each, buy 5 and get the 6th one free. You fill out the slips, pay for them, and let the honor society do the rest! We'll deliver carnations to 1st hour classes on February 12th. Carnations can also be purchased from Mrs. Bouty or Mrs. Johnston before and after school. Send caranations to friends, teachers, siblings or that special someone! Don't forget anyone this Valentine's Day!

ATTENTION 8TH GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS

The high school orientation for 8th graders is being held Tuesday, February 2nd, at 6:00 pm, in the high school auditorium. High school counselors and teachers will be on hand to explain course selections as well answer any questions regarding credit requirements for graduation, post secondary education, etc.

On February 2nd and February 4th registration will begin at the middle school. In preparation, parents will be asked to disuss course selections with their child. Should parents or students have any questions during this time, they can contact the high school guidance office at 735-1305.

MARINETTE ELKS CLUB HOOP SHOOT

Attention all boys and girls ages 8 to 13! Test your free throw shooting skills at the Marinette Elks Club Hoop Shoot contest on Saturday, December 5th, at 2:00 pm, at the Marinette High School. It's free to participate and loads of fun! All boys and girls ages 8 to 13 are encouraged to attend.

YEARBOOKS ARE NOW ON SALE

Yearbooks for the 2009-2010 school year are now on sale Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during lunch until Christmas break. Cost is $15.00, checks can be made payable to MMS or cash is also acceptable. Get yours today!

DAR DANCE

There will be a DAR dance Friday, December 4th, from 7:00-9:00 pm, for students in grades 6,7 and 8. Cost is $5.00 without a membership or $3.00 with a membership. Memberships are also available the night of the dance and cost is $10.00 for the school year.

DANCE TEAM CAMP

The NEW Marinette High Dance Team is sponsoring a dance team camp on Saturday, December 12th, from 9:00am-12:00 pm at Marinette Middle School, for girls in grades 2 thru 8. Cost is $20 if you register and pay by Friday, November 20th, or $25 if you register and pay at the door on December 12th. Registration and sign-in begins at 8:30 am @ Marinette Middle School. Cost of the camp includes a t-shirt, snack and a drink. For more information forms are available in the middle school office or you may contact Mrs. Ruth Maguire at the high school, 735-1300.

SWEATSHIRT SALE

Ms. Nygren's class at the high school is selling sweatshirts. Forms were sent home with your students but are also available in the middle school office. All forms and orders are due by Friday, November 20th. Sweatshirts are displayed in the lobby at the middle school.

NJHS MEETING

There will be a short meeting on Wednesday, November 18th, at 7:35 am in the 3rd floor flex to vote on this year's NJHS officers. Please stop in the flex to vote! If you missed last week's meeting and are interested in running for president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer, please stop in Mrs. Bouty's room by Tuesday at noon to be added to the ballot.

VERONA GROVE LIVE IN CONCERT AT MMS

Emergency Rescue Squad presents Verona Grove live in concert at Marinette Middle School in the gymnasium on Friday, November 13th. You know them from hit songs on WIXX such as "Revolution" and "Las Vegas Nights". Doors open at 7:00 pm. Tickets on sale at Angeli's, Curry's Foods, Lee's Foods and Main Street Music. Buy in advance for $10. Depending On The Weather, a local band, is the opening act.

8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL OPEN GYMS

Feel like you have no say in what happens in school or how your school looks? Looking for a positive group to join to have fun and do something good for the school and others? Join Healthy Youth Coalition or HYC! Permission slips are available in the office. Even if you turned in a permission slip last year, a new one needs to be signed. Return signed permission slips to Mrs. Klein by Friday, September 11th. Any questions, please see Mrs. Klein.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag football with the Marinette Recreation Dept. is open to boys and girls in 5th and 6th grades. Cost is $12 per player, made payable to the City of Marinette. You may register at the civic center or bring the form back to school along with the payment. Forms may be picked up in the middle school office. CROSS COUNTRY

Any students interested in going out for cross country should stop in the office and pick up forms. Cross country is offered to all 5th thru 8th graders. Practice begins Thursday, Sept. 3rd at 3:15 pm. We will meet in the lobby outside the gym. Be dressed and ready activity.
